A few days ago, I was watching a webinar on email marketing, the information was really good and he gave a lot of information on how to set up a good email that includes a call to action.
At the end, during the question and answer time, someone asked if their email newsletter should match their website colors.
In my mind, I thought “Yes!! Everything related to your business should match!”
Keeping your marketing materials consistent is very important to help build your brand. Your audience will recognize your post on social media and your fans will stop to read.
I understand it may seem boring to always use the same colors and fonts in your post but in the long run it actually saves you time. You don’t have to come up with new designs or find color combinations every time you post or email.
If you’re working with a graphic designer or marketing agency, they can create a style guide for your business. It can be as simple as one page or up to multiple pages.
What is a Style Guide?
A style guide or brand guide is a complete system of graphic elements, color palette, images and icons that defined your companies brand.
When working with a Web Designer, they will need to know the colors and fonts to use on your website, the images give them visuals of the brand.
Also, working with a social media person, they can keep everything consistent. They can see your color palette, the font style and imagery to keep everything on track, you want your audience to recognize you instantly.
All this build your brand. Consistency!

Keep it simple!
You can go as far as creating templates that you just change out the center content.
For example, I like to post motivational quotes, I just drop in the new text in the graphic. I don’t have to come up with other color combinations or a new design.
Of course, there will be times that you want to add a little extra to your newsletter or social media post. For example, in February we have Valentine’s Day. You can always add some red or some hearts to your newsletter or social media post. Your branch should be flexible, but for the most part, keep it consistent.
